Free Fishing Day On The Horizon

One of the absolute coolest events in our area is the annual Russell H Gilbert Free Fishing Day in White Cloud. This fishing phenomenon was started by its namesake the former mayor of that fair city who wanted to give area kids a day of fun and festivities complete with prizes for the youthful anglers. Since his passing it has not only continued but grown exponentially since those early days through the efforts of his family and friends.
“The day itself is one I look forward to every year,” said Dianne Patrick, one of the chief organizers and Mr. Gilbert’s daughter. “I get to see people spending time with family and get to relive and share special memories of my Dad.

Discover Your Community Day Focuses on County Government and Human Services
White Cloud, MI - A group representing a variety of local businesses and organizations participated in the second Discover Your Community Day on May 20. The event was presented by Fremont Area Community Foundation in partnership with the Fremont Area and River Country chambers of commerce.
The day’s focus was Newaygo County government and human services. The event began in White Cloud at the Newaygo County building complex with introductions of elected officials and county leaders, including new County Administrator Christopher Wren.

I have known a lot of nurses in my time. I’ve worked with them, sat on boards and committees with several, been friends with many and have had the privilege of being married to one for over 4 decades (a nurse, mind you whose Mother and Aunt were nurses before her so the creed is steeped in family tradition).
While never claiming to know more than a smattering of what creates these wonderful folks, there are some things that are just understood, like when there is a problem that needs solving, a puzzle to be unraveled, a gap in service that needs to be addressed or other pressing issue, if it is put in the hands of nurses who have decided on a course of action it will most certainly be done.
