Grant Area Accident Results In Loss of Life The Newaygo County Sheriff’s Department responded to an accident at the intersection of 22 Mile Road and Elder Avenue in Grant Township just after 5:30pm Friday evening. When deputies arrived at the scene, they saw... bystanders performing CPR on a 12-year-old passenger from Grant. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of that vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle involved were both treated at the scene. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and the accident is still under investigation. 22 Mile Road was blocked off as far away as Callen Avenue to the east and M-37 to the west, and Elder Avenue was shut down as far as 21 Mile to the south and 136th Street to the north while crews worked at the scene. The Grant Fire Department, Muskegon County Medical Examiner's Office, Kent County Sheriff's Office, Life EMS, and the Michigan State Police also responded. Comments are closed.
