Tigers Outlast Hornets, Lions Tear Up Tigers, Norse Snap Cloud Streak
Photos by Cassie Rickert North Muskegon 57 White Cloud 38 The state ranked Norsemen lived up to their billing Tuesday as they shook off the visitors late in the game to remain undefeated. The loss snapped an 11 game winning streak for White Cloud who kept the game close trailing by just 5 at the half. The Norse edged their lead to 7 entering the 4th and went on a 19-8 run to secure their 19th win without a loss. Coach Jones: “Not the game you want to have a bad night shooting and have turnovers. Had a lot to do with the team we played. They are well coached and have lots of talent. “We have a quick turnaround to get a lot of things figured out before heading to Grant on Wednesday night.” KJ Strait paced the scoring for WC hitting for 16 points while Jayden Robinson finished with an even dozen. White Cloud (15-3, 7-1) will visit Grant Wednesday. Grant 77 Central Montcalm 74 The Hornets have had some struggles this season and came into this one having lost to every team on their schedule with a winning record. With a road game against a red hot team like the Tigers the prospects to pull off a victory seemed slim, but CM came out strong and battled second place Grant to the buzzer before falling short. The Tigers trailed by a bucket at halftime and fought their way to a 3 point lead entering the final frame. The hosts were able to hold the lead for the conference win but it certainly didn't come easy. The win was the 4th in a row for Grant and their 6th straight conference win. Zaiden Phillips led the team in scoring with 19 followed by Oakley Obenauf and Ethan DeLong with 18 and 15, respectively. Three players chipped in 6 each, Kyle Cook, Sincere Hatch and Blake Rider. Grant (12-4, 7-1) will host White Cloud Wednesday in a game that will decide which team will stand alone in 2nd and opens the door for a possible share of the title. Newaygo 73 Shelby 60 The Lions) made it 3 in a row with a home victory over the Tigers. The visitors kept the game close in the first half but the rest of the game belonged to the Lions. Caris Nelson poured in a game high 24 points to go with his 7 assists and Josiah Long (16) and Logan Klomp (13) also reached double figures for the Lions. Ethan Reyburn scored 7 and Jarryn Schmidt hit for 6. Newaygo (12-7, 6-3) will travel to Big Rapids Friday for a tangle with the Cardinals.

By Ken De Laat A rugged week awaits White Cloud. They control their own destiny when it comes to a share of the conference crown but it’s a steep climb requiring a tough road win and following it 2 days later with a home victory over the league leader to do it. The Cloud has been a remarkable team all season long. Just an early stumble in Shelby and a loss at home to Big Rapids keep them from being undefeated. Undefeated like the first of the 3 formidable opponents they will be facing this week, North Muskegon. The host Norsemen have burned through their schedule using a stifling defense. Teams are averaging under 40 points a game against them. Their D will match up with a potent WC offense that has been averaging 68 a game during their 11 game win streak. These teams could likely meet again in the Districts. The Monday NM game is just the start for Coach Jones’ team. On Wednesday they travel to Grant to face the Tigers, an explosive team with Obenauf, Phillips, DeLong, Swanson and more on the floor who can pile up points. Should Grant come away from their Monday game with Central Montcalm with a win, the teams will be playing for sole possession of second place and a shot at a share of the title. Either way that share of the title will go through White Cloud who wrap up the week Friday with what could be one of the biggest games in recent school history. The Coyotes have dominated teams but there have been a few close calls along the way. If they get off to a quick lead they’re hard to come back on. A couple of teams have been able to hold down their scoring and stay close but they can light it up in a hurry. They want the outright title and will more than likely need to win in White Cloud to get it. The senior laden White Cloud squad has a lot of players who can score. Noah and Jayden Robinson, Strait, and Watson can all heat up and Reuther has a sharpshooter mentality when he is canning the distance shots with regularity. McGowen is a force on defense and Coach Jones has no fear when going to his bench with Mason and Coleson Cruzan and others providing some vital minutes. The team plays with confidence in each other and a lot of heart. They also have a large and loud following as witnessed recently in the Newaygo gym. They will need to dig deep this week as they face perhaps the toughest 3 games on their schedule , Before the season began we asked around the league about what teams folks thought would be title contenders. Most named defending champ Big Rapids and Reed City got a lot of attention. Grant was mentioned as was Newaygo. And while not many believed the Cloud would be here… They did. And they are. Photos by Bobbie Cruzan Newaygo 55 Tri County 25 The Lions hit the halfway mark with a 16-9 lead over the host Vikings but TC came roaring out of the locker room with a 10-0 run to jump out in front by 3. Coach Thomasma called a timeout to regroup his players and they responded big time. The visitors choked off the TC offense holding them to just 6 points the rest of the way while pouring in 39 of their own to lock up their 3rd straight win. Coach T: ”Slow start for the team tonight. We've been battling some sickness this week with the team and the rust showed early in this game. We started poorly in the 3rd quarter and called a timeout to regroup. We all needed to refocus and play with the way we know we can play and coach. Proud that the group responded in the manner they did. We played excellent basketball the last 12 minutes of the game. We as a group need to continue to work on being more consistent for 32 minutes. This team is a good one to be around. A lot of good character is in our locker room. Hopefully this weekend will allow us to get healthy going into next week." A well balanced scoring attack was led by Lilly Holmes who filled the stat sheet with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. Amaya Lathrop and Naomi Schillman each dropped a dozen on the Vikings while Kija Shultz tallied 9 points and 6 steals and Maria Riddering chipped in 3 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Newaygo (8-7, 3-5) will travel to Orchard View (4-11, 0-8) on Tuesday to face the Cardinals. Grant 58 Chippewa Hills 23 The Tigers kept a grip on their spot atop the CSAA standings with a resounding win over the Warriors. Coach Delamater: “I thought we played a decent game tonight. We gave up more points than I wanted to, but I thought we were too aggressive at times and got out of position. All 10 of (Keira) White's points came from being out of position where she could get open looks or put backs due to girls scrambling too much. It was also hard to get in a rhythm with all of the whistles. We didn't score a clean transition bucket until the 2nd quarter. Julie (Ashbaugh) obviously had a huge night again (22 points, 16 rebounds, 6 steals) and Alexa Obenauf has really been playing well lately. She gives us another threat from deep and had a great game for us tonight with 11 points. Lily Krepps also deserves a lot of credit. She has embraced the role of coming off the bench for Ashbaugh, Rodriguez, Pleune, or Welch and gives us great minutes game in and game out. Tonight was a spectacular night for her with a season high nine points.” Grant (10-3, 7-0) will host Holton (12-5, 5-4) on Tuesday Morley Stanwood 55 White Cloud 15 A close loss to Big Rapids last week knocked the state ranked Morley team from the top of the conference. On Friday their first game back since that loss they made certain early on that this one wasn’t going to be close. The visitors dominated play, sending the Cloud to its 5th straight loss. Coach Wilk: “Coming into the game we knew we had a tough task in slowing down Morley's top 3 players. We did not do enough to keep ourselves in the game for very long. “ Kadence Nickoloff led the hosts in scoring with 7 points White Cloud (2-6, 6-11) will host Montabella (6-9, 6-8) 0n Monday. Fremont 63 Orchard View 14 The Pack took control early and stayed there. The conference win keeps Frenot atop the WMC-Lakes Division, a game ahead of second place Ludington. Coach Zerfas:”This game was never really close as we took a 14-2 first quarter lead, and led 34-3 at halftime. Everyone got to play and contributed in one way or another. Eliana VandenBerg led us in scoring with 15 points, Olivia Hansen had her best game of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Mia Clemence had 10 points and Jessica Bennett had 9 points and 9 rebounds. Both Katie Ackerman and Taylor DeKuiper had 6 points. Grace Evans had her best game of the season with 5 points and 6 assists.” Fremont(13-3, 9-0) will host Shelby (5-10, 3-7) 0n Monday. Holton 32 Shelby 26 The Tigers kept clawing away at the Red Devil lead but Holton kept their efforts at bay to secure the conference win. Coach Jordan: “We challenged the girls to respond to a bad loss on Tuesday where we got dominated on the boards, and they responded. We were already down a starter who averages just under 10 rebounds a game and our center Ryann Robins was in foul trouble all night and eventually fouled out in the 4th.Most of the second half my tallest player on the court was 5’5”, but they all battled. None more than Kenzie Greene who pulled down 10 boards herself with a 5’4” frame. Layla Cannady came up huge with 9 points and 7 rebounds. Abbie Fowler had 6 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. "Only had 7 dressed tonight and Ava Crowell and Alexis Nichols gave us huge minutes off the bench when we absolutely had to have them. We played a great defensive game and outside of two stretches where Shelby went on a little run we were able to hold them at bay for most of the night but nothing came easy for us either. Tough game but more than happy to get out of there with a win given the circumstances we faced. Overall this was the best team win on the season, especially after the way we played on Tuesday. Very proud of my team tonight.” Holton (12-5, 5-4) will play at Grant (10-3, 7-0) 0n Tuesday. Lions Outlast Vikes,Tigers Roar in Remus, Cloud Cruises, Dogs Nip Packers
By Ken De Laat Newaygo 81 Tri County 76 If you like your basketball served up with a lot of offense, this one was right up your alley. The Vikings posted their highest output of the season but it wasn’t enough as the Lions breached the 80 point mark for the first time since early December. Wins have been tough to come by for TC but they were determined to hold home court and struck back from an early deficit by raining down a dozen three pointers on the visiting Lions. In the end Newaygo proved to be successful at the foul line and held off the Vikes for the conference win. Josiah Long fired in 26 points while Logan Klomp hit for 16 to go with 8 boards. Blake Kerr scored 15 and collected 6 rebounds and Caris Nelson dished out a team high 10 dimes while scoring an even dozen. Newaygo (11-7, 6-3) will host Shelby (3-13, 1-7) on Monday. Grant 79 Chippewa Hills 46 The Tigers kept pace in the conference race with a solid showing in Remus where they ran away from the Warriors in the second half to secure the win. The road victory made it 3 in a row for the Tigers who remain tied for second place, a game behind front runner Reed City. Oakley Obenauf knocked down 25 points to lead the Tigers. Ethan DeLong fired in 19 for the visitors and Zaiden Phillips hit for 17. Grant (11-4, 7-1) will visit Central Montcalm (6-11, 3-5) on Monday. White Cloud 65 Morley Stanwood 41 The Cloud was riding a 10 game winning streak when Morleystan came to town on Friday. Facing a brutal schedule next week it could have been easy to look past an opponent with just one win on thseason. But Coach Jones’ team wasn’t looking past anyone. After edging ahead by 5 after one they put more distance between the teams with a 17-9 run courtesy of some red hot shooting from beyond the arc.The hosts continued their barrage after the break and cruised to the conference win. Coach Jones had praise for his team but also acknowledged the special event that took place at the game. “We had an opportunity to bring awareness for M.S. a disease that affects many and has touched our hometown and one of our JV players. We would like to thank the fans, coaches and players from both sides for showing their support and generosity for this terrible disease!” Jared Watson tallied a game high18 points while KJ Strait hit for 14, Jayson Ruether scored 12 and Jayden Robinson added 8. White Cloud (15-2, 7-1) will travel to North Muskegon (18-0, 9-0) on Monday. Ravenna 57 Fremont 48 The Packers stayed within shouting distance of the Bulldogs but could not gain ground and dropped their 4th straight. Coach Bowen: “We were a little short handed with Chaz still being out with an ankle injury, but we did not play well on the defensive end. Too many drives allowed and open looks for them. We will work to improve on that in the last two weeks of the season.” Will DeBlake had 13 points to go with his 6 boards while Gavin Richards also pulled 6 off the glass and hit for 8 points. Fremont (7-11, 3-5) will travel to Oakridge(12-6, 5-4) on Tuesday. Tigers, Lions, Packers, Lions, Devils, Tigers
Wednesday Grant 43 Central Montcalm 32 (Girls) The Tigers ran their winning streak to 5 and stayed atop the standings in the CSAA with a home win over the Hornets. Coach Delamater: “It was another tough battle for us tonight. CM is always a tough team that gets after it and is well coached. We were plagued by foul trouble again tonight. Julie Ashbaugh, Natalia Rodriguez, and Jocee Pleune had to sit for long stretches tonight. The girls responded well and played great defense even though our Central handled our press.. Bella Welch and Ashbaugh did a great job handling the ball in the last four minutes of the game. Pleune scorched a trio of triples to finish with 9 points and Rodriguez also hit for 9. AShbaugh finished with 8, Alexa Obenauf scored 7 and Welch added 6. Grant (9-3, 6-0) will play at Chip Hills (1-12, 0-6) on Friday. Newaygo 59 Hart 48 (Boys) The Lions held the Pirates to just 3 first quarter points and held off a couple of runs by the visitors to capture the non conference win. Logan Klomp had the hot hand for the Lions, canning 20 points to go with a half dozen boards. Josiah Long hit for 13 while Jarryn Scmitt scored 8. Caris Nelson dished out 9 assists on the night and added 7 points. Blake Kerr also scored 7 and matched the number by collecting 7 rebounds. Tuesday Fremont 55 Montague 45 (Girls) The Packers made it an even dozen wins on the season with a hard fought home win over the Wildcats. Then hosts took a 19-6 lead after one and by halftime held an 18 point advantage. The Wildcats clawed back after intermission and entering the 4th had shaved the Packer lead to 7. The visitors kept chipping away in the 4th getting the margin down to 3 but Fremont regrouped and hit from the charity stripe down the stretch to secure the conference win and remain atop the WMC Lakes Division. Coach Zerfas:”We survived a horrendous shooting night with great defense and creating 30 turnovers. ”Montague has improved a ton, you could see it on film, but I thought we could have put this game out of reach in the first half with better shooting and making our free throws. We came out with great energy, we just have to finish shots. We did have very balanced scoring with Mia Clemence 13 points, Riley Chase 12 points, Jessica Bennett 12 points, Taylor DeKuiper 10 points and Olivia Hansen 5 points. Riley Chase also had 11 steals. Mia Clemence had 7 steals and 5 assists. Taylor DeKuiper had 4 steals and 7 rebounds, Jessica Bennett had 7 rebounds and Katie Ackerman had 5 steals. Newaygo 33 Holton 21 (Girls) The Lions made it 2 in a row as they cooled off the Red Devils offense in the non conference win. Coach Thomasma:”The girls picked up from Friday and played defense with some intensity again tonight. We rotated well and tried to make it difficult for Holton to get good looks. We handled the press better tonight too. We don't have one superstar player but when the girls play complementary basketball like we have the past few games, we can be a tough out. Holton is well coached and has some experience so beating them tonight was a great win.” Naomi Schillman led the Lions with 9 points and 3 assists. Addison Goodin pulled down 10 rebounds to go with her 7 points and Kija Shultz collected 5 boards, 3 steals and also scored 7. Newaygo (7-7, 2-5) will try to make it three in a row when they travel to conference rival Tri County (2-12, 1-6) on Friday. Holton (11-5, 4-4) also returns to conference play Friday when they head to Shelby (5-9, 3-6) Grant 81 Tri County 60 (Boys) The Tigers pounced early taking a 25-14 lead after one. They kept it rolling in the second outsourcing the Vikes 19-10 to hit halftime up 20 and coasting to the win. Five Tigers reached double figures in scoring led by Oakley Obenauf with 21. Zaiden Phillips hit for 19 and Adam Booth pumped in 13 while Kyle Cook and Etan Delong finished with 10 apiece. Grant (10-4, 5-1) will head to Remus Friday to face Chip Hills (3-12, 2-5). Ashbaugh gets a grand
Grant 48 Montague 34 The Tigers weathered a strong second quarter comeback by the Wildcats to secure their 4th straight win. They also saw one of their own reach a milestone few high school players attain. Coach Delamater: “ It was an exciting night for us as Julie Ashbaugh sat 6 points from 1000 going into the game. We also knew that Montague is never an easy out and would bring it. "The game started with a Ashbaugh fast break bucket and some great defense on our part. All three Montague points came at the charity stripe. The second was a different story. It was a very tightly called game and we got into foul trouble early in the second quarter. Montague went to the foul line 11 more times, and we got completely out of rhythm. The bright spot in the quarter was Julie's 1000 career point coming on a It was a free throw line jumper.midway through the quarter. "We got back on track in the third. Bella Welch had a great quarter after sitting out much of the 1st half in foul trouble. She had a number of key steals and 9 of her game high 15 points in the quarter. We had a 10 point lead going into the fourth and got the ball in Bella and Julie's hands. They did a great job of controlling the tempo in the quarter and sealing the win. "This is the 3rd quality opponent we've had in a row. They play tough defense, are very physical, and very aggressive. For the third game in a row, we've taken the other team's best punch and handled it. "Bella had a great game for us tonight. Not only did she come up with some big steals and big baskets, but she did a great job of controlling the offense. Several girls played good quality minutes for us tonight including Jocee Pleune and Lily Krepps with five points apiece. Julie finished with nine points on the night and also had several rebounds." Grant (8-3, 5-0) will play at Tri County (2-12, 1-6) on Tuesday. Grant 68 Fremont 65 It’s no longer a conference game but the Tiger/Packer rivalry continues to simmer. The teams slugged it out on the Packer home court and it was Grant who outlasted their hosts for the win. Coach Bowen “We were able to build an eleven point lead in the second half, but late in the third Chaz Miller went down with a bad ankle sprain, and we were not able to hold on without him.” Oakley Obenauf led the Tigers in scoring with 23 points while Sincere Hatch added 16. Lucas Swanson and Ethan DeLong each hit for 8. Despite losing court time from an injury Miller paced the Pack with 17 points to go with his 5 steaks and 4 assists. Will DeBlake finished with a double double pulling down 13 boards to go with his dozen points. Grant (9-4, 5-1) returns to conference play Tuesday hosting Tri County (4-11, 2-6). Fremont (7-10, 3-5) hosts Ravenna (8-7, 5-3) on Friday. Cloud Runs Streak to 10 with rugged road win
Photos by Cassie Rickert Story by Ken De Laat White Cloud 60 Newaygo 57 It was a wild one in Newaygo Friday night, a classic battle between two old rivals that proved to be everything promised. White Cloud came in with an impressive 9 game winning streak not having lost a game since mid December and undefeated on the road since game 2 a couple of months ago. The Cloud still had title aspirations sitting just behind Reed Citywith a single loss in conference play and a late season matchup with the Coyotes looming. The Lions saw their title hopes dashed when they lost to front runner Reed City earlier in the week but a win over their northern neighbors could only help their district seedings. Both teams had a large contingency of fans and seats on both sides of the gym were at a premium. Making the Snowcoming night even more special, the Lion competitive cheer team was on hand and performed some impressive routines for an appreciative crowd. The two student sections were their boisterous selves engaging in a lot of chants that echoed back and forth with intensity not unlike the game taking place on the court. The visitors got on the board quickly as Jared Watson fired in a couple of buckets followed by a Noah Robinson score to give WC a 6-0 start while Newaygo was struggling to get on the board. Coach Long called for a T.O. and finally, halfway through the first after a pair from the stripe by Noah Robinson to make it 8-0, Blake Kerr scored and added one at the line to break the drought. By the end of one the Cloud held a 14-10 lead. The Lions came out strong in the second with Josiah Long burning one from beyond the arc to start a 17-6 run with the visitors only points coming from a pair of Jayson Reuther triples. After Caris Nelson scored to put the Lions up 7, Reuther banged home another three pointer. Nelson split from the line then after a technical was called on Newaygo ( WC was T'd up earlier in the quarter) Watson and Kerr exchanged baskets and the half ended with the hosts holding a 32-27 edge. After intermission the teams exchanged blows in the early third keeping the score steady then a couple of stops and a couple of KJ Strait scores plus a successful trip to the line by Noah Robinson and the score was tied. Long gave the Lions the lead back with a triple but a pair of free throws and a Jayden Robinson basket and the Cloud had their first lead since early in the second. The game got even more physical with a lot of bodies banging for boards and by the time the dust cleared the teams were heading for the final 8 minutes with White Cloud clinging to a 49-47 lead. The 4th was pure madness. Long tripled between a pair of buckets by Kerr and Hunter Yearsovich while Strait and Coleson Cruzan tallied in response. With a 59-55 lead and less than 2 minutes the Cloud took the air out of the ball using their strong passing game to eat up clock. Nelson grabbed a steal and fired it to Kerr to make it a 2 point game but then with time a premium the Lions were forced to foul and had a couple to give before sending WC to the line. They finally got Strait to the stripe where he split the pair giving the Lions a shot at a tie, but the shot failed to find net and the Cloud crowd erupted. Coach Jones: “The energy in the gym was intense and the crowds for both teams were rocking. Proud of my team for the determination they showed tonight. We were lucky to get out of there with a win.” Strait finished with a team high 15 points while Jayden Robinson hit for 13 and Noah Robinson scored 10. Reuther’s 9 points were courtesy of 3 key 3 pointers and Watson finished with 8 including those 2 early buckets. Kerr led the Lions with a game high 18 points and pulled down 9 boards while Long hit for 15. Nelson dished out 7 dimes and grabbed 8 rebounds to go with his 10 points. Newaygo (9-7, 5-3) will host Hart on Wednesday while White Cloud (14-2, 6-1) will welcome in Morley Stanwood on Friday. Story by Ken De Laat Photos by Bobbie Cruzan and Ken De Laat Newaygo 40 White Cloud 17 The Lions were coming off three tightly contested games in a row with an overtime win at Whitehall sandwiched between a pair of close losses to Reed City and Lakeview. The Cloud was still searching for a little more offense and hoping to snap a three game skid. Gracy Holmes put up the first points with a shot that would give the Cloud their only lead of the night, 2-0. Naomi Shillman got the hosts going with a bucket then Maria Riddering stole the ball and found Shillman who again put it in the hoop. Amaya Lathrop who was a demon on defense all night, took a theft of her own downcourt and made it a quick 6-2 lead for the Lions. Brooke Ringler converted a pair of free throws but the Lions answered with a score then Riddering scorched an off-balance shot at the buzzer for 3 and the quarter ended with Newaygo up 12-4. The Ringler points were the last the Cloud would tally until the second half when her basket made the score 18-6. Jaden Gomez canned a triple but Shillman answered with one of her own and the Lions kept their visitors at bay the rest of the night for the win. Coach Thomasma: “"A lot of positives out of the game tonight. We really played with some intensity on defense and challenged White Cloud on a lot of shots. We had 3 pretty tight and intense games this week and the girls responded well. It's Snowcoming week on top of it but they stayed focused and played with confidence. Really proud of them!" Coach Wilk: “. We had some good stretches in the 3rd and the 4th, but we weren't able to battle back.5. We get a long week off to prepare for state ranked Morley Stanwood. Fixing some of our miscues will be the goal next week. Lathrop led a balanced Lion scoring attack with 10 points to go with her 5 steals and 3 assists. Lilly Holmes and Shillman each knocked down 8 while Addison Goodin took down 8 boards to go with her 7 points. Holmes paced the Cloud with 6 points and Gomez, who seemed to be all over the court on defense added 5. Newaygo (6-7, 2-5) will welcome in Holton on Tuesday while White Cloud (6-10, 2-5) will be visited by Morleystan on Friday. It’s been quite a year for the Packers. Under the tutelage of first year …well, first year with the girls team… Coach Pete Zerfas, the team has put together an exceptional season thus far. Undefeated in conference play, they are sitting atop the Lakes Division. Their 3 losses include 2 to state ranked Morleystan and a season opener setback at the hands of state ranked Spring Lake. The Red Devils also have a pair of losses to a state ranked MCC squad. Their other setback was an OT affair at North Muskegon, a team they will face on the RD home court mid month.. Staring up at 3 other teams, a Rivers Division title may not be likely, but Coach Jordan's team is sure to be a factor when it comes to District play. Thursday games Fremont 54 Oakridge 33 Fremont’s defense was creating turnovers early on but failing to convert these into points led to a 12-9 deficit after one. The potent Packer offense began heating up in the second and the teams got to the half with the visitors edging ahead with a 22-18 lead. After intermission it was all Packers as they successfully pressured the Eagles and poured in 23 third quarter points to enter the fourth up 45-28. Jessica Bennett had 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals, Katie Ackerman collected 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals and Khaila Noordyk hit for 9 points and added 7 rebounds. Mia Clemence filled the book with 7 points, 8 rebounds, 8 steals and 4 assists while Taylor DeKuiper finished with 5 points, both Riley Chase and Eliana Vandenberg scored 4 points and Olivia Hansen added 3 points to go with her 7 rebounds. Fremont (11-3, 7-0) will host Montague on nTuesday. Holton 57 Hesperia 21 The Red Devils maintained possession of the Battle of M-120 trophy, breaking open a close game with an 18-2 second quarter run. Coach Jordan: “Always good to get a win against your rival and it keeps our traveling “Battle of M-120” trophy at home with us. This was a game where everyone got in every quarter and a few of the JV girls got some minutes as well. This wins gets us to 11 on the season which matches our total from last year with 8 games still to go,. All our goals are still in front of us. We have a lot to play for moving forward with a tough slate down the stretch that starts with a Hart team on Saturday that has dominated the conference over the past few years.” Ryann Robins and Abbie Fowler each canned 17 points for the Devils with Robins ruling the glass by pulling down 13 rebounds. Fowler also grabbed 4 steals and collected 5 assists while Laya Cannady dished out a team high 8 assists to go with her 10 points. |
