Morley Stanwood 44 White Cloud 21 The Cloud’s season ended Wednesday as the host ‘Hawks will get the rematch they wanted with Kent City in the finals. But as they have all season Coach Wilk’s team gave it their all and in doing so earned a great deal of his praise. “I'm proud of my girls for coming into this game with the mindset that we could win. Morley had our number both times earlier in the season, and tonight in the first half we made life difficult for them. At halftime we were within ten points, and that was with us leaving a few easy baskets out on the floor! “I was happy we were still in the game, but I was also upset that we weren't winning with how well we were defending them. At the end of the game their two captains only had 10 total points, and we held them to one of their lower scoring totals of the year. Abby Derks was having a marvelous game before she twisted up her ankle midway through the 3rd quarter. She finished with 6 points. Carsyn Scarlavai finished with 5 points, and she held Garbow in check all night. Kyleah Baker got the start tonight, and played great defense. Ceara Bode came off the bench as our sixth man like she had for most of the year, and she had her most aggressive game. “Tonight we lost to Morley, but that is a small loss in comparison to the four players we are losing to graduation. Kyleah Baker might go down as the best teammate I have ever seen. Her positivity and charismatic personality are a welcome sight in the gym. Abby Derks is known for her passion and grit on the court. Ceara Bode continuously outworked most players no matter the height differential. Carsyn Scarlavai will go down as the toughest and most determined player in the area. “As for the entire team I am extremely proud to be their coach. We have improved so much from our first game, and I'm excited to see what next season will bring.”
