Packers make it 4 in a row, Fantastic finish for Cloud

Down by a point after one the Packers started heating up and  knocked down 20 2nd quarter points to grab an 8 point lead at intermission. They came out of the locker room with a pressure defense that saw them go on a 14-0 run and cruise to the win.
Coach Zerfas: “I thought the defense played by Katie Ackerman and Riley Chase in the second half changed the entire game. They were incredible. What they did allowed others to get steals and have scoring opportunities.  Lots of credit to assistant coach Jared Hudson for breaking down their press break for us to adjust to. It was just a total team effort on our girls' part tonight with everyone contributing.”
Jessica Bennett had a career high 27 points to go with her 8 blocks while  Freshman Taylor DeKuiper also posted  a career high firing in 18 points to go with her 10 steals.  Mia Clemence had 10 assists and 4 points, Riley Chase had 6 points and 6 steals, Olivia Hansen and Khaila Noordyk both had 6 points and Eliana VandenBerg added 2. Grace Evans had 4 assists.
Fremont (14-3, 9)  will face Whitehall at home on Thursday.

White Cloud 29 Montabella 27
The Cloud snapped a 5 game skid and did it in dramatic fashion. Here’s the skinny on the game from Coach Wilk: 
“What a night in White Cloud! WC fans got their money's worth tonight. If you like defense the first half was for you, but if you like miracles keep reading. The score was 4 to 4 at the end of the 1st, and we were tied 5 to 5 at halftime. Both teams adjusted well at halftime because the scoring picked up in the 2n half. We led 15 to 14 going into the 4th quarter. We held the lead for most of the 4th, but with about a minute left they hit a jumper to go up 1. 
“On our next possession we ended up running five plays from the baseline, and on that fifth play, after a timeout, Brooklyn Foondle drained a three from the corner, and that gave us a 2 point lead. Montabella went down and missed a shot and got their own weak side rebound and made a 15 foot shot from the corner to tie it up. 
“With about 30 seconds left we ran off 25 seconds before we made a backcourt violation. Montabella drew up a play in a timeout with 5 seconds left, and their play resulted in a travel. With 0.8 seconds left on the clock Foondle added a little more magic to the night by throwing a full court pass that would rival even the best quarterbacks to a streaking Gracy Holmes who caught it on the run. In full stride Holmes let it fly with defenders on both sides of her from just inside the 3 point line, and that ball found a home in the bottom of the net. Ball game White Cloud.
“I want to shout out the student section because they stuck with us to the end! The memories of this game will be shared for many years. Almost everyone scored tonight, and I couldn’t be prouder of the resilience and fight that we showed tonight. Kadence Nickoloff led us with 7 points, and Holmes had 6.”
White Cloud (7-11, 2-6) will travel to Grant on Tuesday.
