Grant 56 Holton 52 The Red Devils jumped out early and held a 7 point advantage after one before the Tigers inched ahead to take a one point lead by halftime . The Devs came out of intermission and regained the lead and held it by 4 points entering the fourth. The final frame saw both teams ramping up the offense but the Tigers found the basket more often and left town with the non-con win. Coach Swanson: “Grant did a good job of getting the ball deep into the paint and crashing the glass. I thought our offense was as efficient as it had been in a couple of games but it wasn't enough tonight. Seth Schuitema and Elliott Butchart dropped a dozen apiece for Grant and Gage Burrows added 10. Orion Evans scored 7 and C0le Lesley contributed 5. Wyatt Monette finished with a game high 13 points while Aidan Poling scored 12 to go with 5 assists and 4 steals. Carter Brant dished out 3 assists to go with his 10 points and Austin Fowler hit for 9. Both teams return to conference play Friday as Grant (6-8, 5-6) hosts Central Montcalm and Holton (10-4, 7-0) welcomes in Hesperia. Holton 47 Black River 31 The Red Devils made it 4 out of 5 with the non-con win over the Rats. Coach Mason:”Good team effort tonight. The girls played selfless tonight, they moved the ball around and looked for open teammates. Alanna Cregg played outstanding on defense tonight and Abbie Fowler hit a half court buzzer at half to really give us a momentum boost. Fowler led all scorers with 14 points, Ryann Robins stuck in 11 and Gianna Reed popped in a half dozen. Holton (6-7, 2-4) hosts the Panthers of Hesperia Friday.
