Coach Wilk: “Tonight, we battled tough against Shelby. It was a tight game all night. In the last game, we were a little out of rotation. In this game, we held Shelby to zero made shots in the first three quarters, but they made 15 free throws during that span to keep the game close. We led 2 to 1 at the end of quarter number one. At halftime, they tied us up at 10. In the third quarter, we took a slight 18 to 15 lead. Unfortunately, we ran into some ill-timed fouls, and they made six critical shots in the fourth quarter to put the game away. “Hats off to Shelby tonight; they shot 19 for 33 from the free-throw line, and our percentage was much lower than theirs. Our points were once again spread out. Gracy Holmes and Tanayah Klammer led us with 6 points, and Brooke Ringler chipped in 5 points as well. I’m proud of the way our team battled against a taller and very physical team. Even though we lost this one, we can build off of it.” White Cloud (1-0, 2-1) will return to conference play Friday when they visit the Hornets of Central Montcalm (0-1, 1-1).
