Panthers sweep Cloud: Bayle collects a baker's dozen kills The Panthers defeated CSAA rival, White Cloud Indians, in conference play tonight in a 3-0 road sweep! After a shaky start, the girls fought their way back from a deficit and found their groove winning 25-22. Games 2 and 3 finished 25-21 and 25-22. Emily Bayle led the Panthers with 13 kills and 9 digs. Rachel Romero added 5 kills, 3 digs, and 2 aces for the Panthers. Delaney Yates had 3 kills, 3 blocks, 3 digs, and 3 aces. Brooke Billings and Kyra Sayer each added two blocks for the Panthers. Rylee Gleason had 6 digs for the Panther defense. Sayer and Aria Thomas had 14 and 7 assists respectively on the night. The Panthers are now 2-0 in CSAA Silver and 7-4 overall. They will travel to Montabella this weekend to defend their tournament championship win from 2018. League play continues next Wednesday at home against Lakeview on 9/11/19. SOCCER Kortge stops 9 and Packers hold on; Moon Converse score Fremont 2 Ludington 1 The Packers traveled to play the Orioles of Ludington Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup. Ludington got out to a quick start scoring on a shot from John Biggs. The Packers recovered and 11 minutes later when Kasiday Wright sent a set play to the foot of Carter Moon who knotted the match at 1-1. Just 2 minutes later David Wachter sent a corner to Lane Converse who finished the game-winning shot. The play was largely controlled by the Orioles in the second half but the Packers managed to hang on for the 2-1 win. Ludington outshot Fremont 10-5. Joe Kortge made 9 saves in net for Fremont while Kyle Wendt made 3 saves in net for Ludington. The Packers improved to 3-2 while the Orioles fell to 1-7-2. GOLF Pack Takes 3rd. Gerth finishes 6th. The Fremont girls team shot a combined 442 to finish 3rd out of the 9 conference teams. The match took place in the wind and rain at the Pines Golf Club in Canadian Lakes. Katelynne Gerth finished 6th overall shooting a 95 while Taylor Mulder and Rhiannon Ziebke shoot 114 to finish in a tie for 15th place. (54 total golfers). TENNIS Tigers sweep in dubs Grant 6 West Michigan Christian 2 The Tigers hosted WMC for their first home dual match. The host team jumped out to an early lead sweeping the doubles only dropping 1 game. Nice work; Carter, Jed, Dustin, Payton, Diego, Trent, Kyle, and Isaac. The Tigers got the win at #1 singles 6-0 6-0 by Karlton. Eli Bradley fought back in a marathon match that almost lasted 2 hours, winning 4-6 6-4 6-2 at #4 singles.
