Holton 8-11 Kent City 3-6 The Red Devils swept a pair from the Eagles in Silver baseball action. In the opener Aiden Poling went 6 innings picking up the win behind a 5 strikeout perfomance. Kaleb Kitchka doubled and drove in a run, Poling swiped a pair of bases and collected an RBI and Chip Wright doubled in a run In the second game Nathan Slowik laced 4 singles and a double plating 3 teammates and Poling reached base 4 times scoring 3 times. Kitchka singles and drew 3 walks crossing the plate 3 times. Holton is now 8-6 overall and 5-1 in the Silver. Softball Hesperia 14-21 Morley Stanwood 2-0 The Panther offense put a pasting on the Mohawks plating 35 runs in a total of 9 innings. In the opener Ellie Palmer struck out 10 from the slab getting the win while Daelyn McKinnon and Emily Bayle each rapped out a trio of hits. The Panther defense did their part yielding just one error. In the nightcap Lynnsey Tinkham mowed down the opposition for a 3 inning no-hit gem striking out 5 and walking none. McKinnonc continued to wield a hot bat as she homered, drove in 7 runs and scored 4 times and Bayle tripled drove in 2 and scored 4 times as well. “We played great team ball today,” said Coach Bolles. “ We’re really hitting the ball all over and putting up some runs.” Hesperia is now 5-5 overall and moves to 4-2 in the Silver race. The Panthers return to the field Monday at home against West Michigan Christian.
