Gold Leaders Stay Undefeated
The top tier trio from the CSAA Gold Division continued to dominate the league Tuesday night with a three pack of wins over area teams Big Rapids 52 Newaygo 35 The Lions who were hammered by the Hornets Friday faced a Cardinal team known to grind down opponents with Jaylee Strickland headlining a formidable starting five and a deep bench. Newaygo kept BR in reach during the first half entering intermission down just 4 points but the Cards came out of the locker room on fire and pushed the lead to 15 entering the 4th. "We played a much better game tonight than we did on Friday,” said Coach Nate Thomasma. “The girls really competed well. Madison Bush, Jaylee Long and Sophia Frisbie led the team with 9 points each while Alexis Brocker and Daisy Hagen provided some strength on the boards." Strickland finished with 21 for the visitors. Newaygo (2-5, 1-3) heads to Fremont Friday while Big Rapids (9-0,4-0) will head to Stanton for a showdown of a pair of undefeated title contenders.
