13 local cross country runners will be heading for Brooklyn this Saturday to compete in the State Finals. This includes the 7 harriers from the White Cloud Boys squad currently ranked in the top 15 of D4 XC teams The Indians boast a 6 pack of juniors and senior Carson Foondle on their state-bound team. Here are the seven who will compete for individual as well as team honors with their season best times. Coleson Cruzan 17:12.6 Carson Foodle 17:38.2 Kaleb Canning 18:12.64 Avery Bowman 18:41.75 Wyatt Karnes 19:00.9 Donald Grovesteen 19:32.78 Dalton Crawford 20:07.13 In addition to the Cloud’s ‘Magnificent 7’ from the boys team the girls team will be represented by Annie Feldpausch (21:11.6) who has led her team across the finish line throughout the season. A trio of Packers continue a long tradition of Fremont runners who have competed in Brooklyn. Senior Sean Pettis (15:24.1) and Junior Carter Sherman (16.32.14) will be wearing the colors for the boys team while Sophomore Linnea Paige (19:13.1) will be making her second appearance at state having earned the honor as a freshman last year. Newaygo’s Remington Arney (19:32.38) is well acquainted with the Brooklyn course as she makes her 4th visit to the state finals. The last time Grant sent a harrier to the event Brodie was in the 7th grade. Good weather and good fortune to all our area runners. A multitude of good high school runners throughout the state will be spending Saturday somewhere other than Brooklyn. The thirteen of you coming from Newaygo County are not among them.
