Blake Kerr scored the next 4 draining a pair from the line and adding a bucket. The Hornets responded with a pair of distance shots to tie at 9 . Hunter Yearsovich matched baskets with CM’s Joey Morrow then Russell Toth hit one to begin a 16-4 Lion run that delivered a 27-15 lead after one. In the second Kerr hit twice and Long converted 4 in a row from the stripe. Caris Nelson got into the fun with an acrobatic move to the hoop and Kerr found the hoop twice before Nelson ended the half with a bucket and the teams hit halftime with Newaygo up 48-30.  The teams jockeyed back and forth with a couple of short runs by the Hornets but the Lions held home court and finished with the win. Newaygo was led by Blake Kerr with 22 points and 7 rebounds, Josiah Long with 16 points and 6 rebounds, Caris Nelson with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, and Logan Klomp with 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Russell Toth gathered up 7 rebounds and Jaxon duChemin dished out 4 assists. Newaygo (2-0, 3-2) will host Orchard View (0-2,1-3) of the WMC on Tuesday.
