Lions Roar Past ‘Cats
Newaygo 64 Lakeview 43 The Lions got out of the gate early, pouring in 25 first quarter points with Josiah Long, Caris Nelson and Hunter Yearsovich finding net from beyond the arc. The teams played even in the second as the Lions got points from 6 different players in the quarter and the teams hit intermission with the hosts up 38-24. The teams exchanged scoring in the third and the Wildcats struck twice early in the 4th to pull within 11. The Lions responded as Blake Kerr scored followed by a 2 and 3 from Long and a Logan Klomp basket putting the game out of reach with a 20 point lead. Newaygo (8-4, 4-1) won their third in a row and has a chance to pull into a tie for the conference lead when they host Reed City (11-2, 6-0) on Tuesday.
