Holton Captures Tourney Title
Holton 50 White Cloud 12 The Red Devils are red hot. They rolled to the win in the title game of their first Annual Holiday Tournament and for the fourth straight time they won in a rout. The hosts took White Cloud out of the game early, holding them scoreless while piling on 19 points in the first period. By intermission the Devs were well in control at 33-5 Coach Jordan: “The message to the team was to come out with the needed intensity from the start, Every girl played in every quarter, which is something that might not always be the case but is good whenever you can have that opportunity. We had good balance again this game which is something I always want to have. We need to be able to score when teams try to take Robins away with a double. “Overall a good game and nice to win the championship at home for the inaugural event. We still have tons of room for improvement and we need to focus on that and not these last few lopsided wins, we know we have several tough challenges coming up starting with Shelby." Despite nursing an ankle injury Abbie Fowler dropped a dozen points, dished out 4 assists and snared 6 steals. Ryann Robins posted her 5th double double of the year with 15 points and 11 boards, while Layla Cannady and Aubrey Goyings knocked down 8 points apiece. Holton (5-1, 1-1) resumes conference play at home Thursday when they put their streak on the line in a matchup with Shelby (4-2, 2-1).
