The Lions will welcome in Central Montcalm (0-1, 2-1) Girls Holton 40 Oakridge 24 The Red Devils opened their season with a convincing win over the Eagles. Coach Jordan: “Sluggish start for us as expected for first game. But we were able to pick it up a little and pull away in the second half. We weren't able to create turnovers tonight really at all, but we also didn't Turn the ball over that much either, which is a very good thing for us , less than 10 on the night. Which we will take any game let alone the first. “Lexi Bart hit 3 big 3's and lead is in scoring with 11 and Aubrey Goyings energy in the second half was a big lift for us Ryann Robins basically played the entire game , which is not ideal for us but with only 8 and Aubrey batting early foul trouble we just couldn't take her out. Abbie Fowler didn’t get in the scorers box , which won’t happen often but she contributed with 8 assists and that’s her strength.. so she had a solid night with 8 assists and 1 turnover.Layla Cannady also scored 10 and hit a few 3’s as well. “It wasn't our best game but given that and being able to win by double digits is something we can be optimistic about… we only gave up 10 second half points and scored 25 so that’s what you want to be able to do , is close out a game in the second half. “We have a ton of room for improvement, but we got beat by 20 last year by Oakridge so to get the first win against them is something we can be happy about.” Holton (1-0) will head for Scottville Thursday to take on Mason County Central (1-0). Spring Lake 54 Fremont 32 The Packers (0-1) will host Oakridge (0-1) on Tuesday
