Coach Jones: “Not one of our best games on either side of the floor but we showed a lot of heart tonight and probably stole one.” Noah Robinson dropped a game high 21 points on the Hornets with Jayden Robinson popping in 17, and KJ Strait hitting for 16. Reed City 67 Grant 49 The Coyotes look to be a prime factor in the conference race as they rolled past the Tigers to capture their 4th straight win in convincing fashion. With the game tied at 10 after one, the visitors edged to a 6 point lead at intermission then outscored the Tigers 19-9 in the third to take command of the game. Zaiden Phillips led the hosts in scoring with 8 points followed by Kyle Cook and Ethan DeLong who finished with 7 apiece. Grant (2-1, 4-2) will meander up M-37 Tuesday to face forever rival Newaygo (3-0, 5-2) Newaygo 60 Kent City 54 A back and forth game between these two rivals saw the Lions close out the win in the conference matchup and run their winning streak to 3. Newaygo was led by Blake Kerr with 19 points and 8 rebounds, followed by Caris Nelson with 15 points and 6 assists, and Logan Klomp with 11 points. Jarryn Schmitt pulled down 7 rebounds and Ethan Reyburn had 4 steals. Newaygo (3-0, 5-2) hosts Grant (2-1, 4-2) on Tuesday. Thursday Fruitport 49 Fremont 38 The visiting Trojans built a 26-18 lead by intermission and held back the Pack to secure the win and send the hosts to their 4th straight loss. Coach Bpwen: “We struggled to make shots again. We just have not been able to generate enough offense to win games so far this year. Our defense overall was pretty good, but you’re not going to win many games when you score 38 points. We will continue to work hard to get better.” Chaz Miller fired in 14 points to lead the pack with Ben Mellema hitting for 10. Fremont (0-2, 1-4) returns to conference play Tuesday when they welcome in Oakridge (2-1, 6-1).
