White Cloud traveled to Tri-County High School to take on the Vikings. Not having played in over 2 weeks, the Indians were rusty, after falling behind 3-0 through 2 innings, the Indians erupted in the 3rd inning by plating 5 runs to take a 5-3 lead, with the big hit being an RBI single by Landyn McGowen. The Vikings scored 4 more runs in their half of the 3rd inning, aided by multiple Indian errors for a 7-5 lead. In the 5th inning, White Cloud picked up 2 more runs on a single by Jayden Robinson, and added another run in the 6th on an RBI double by Mason Ruether to put the Indians in front 8-7. The Indians defense again let them down in the 6th inning, allowing 2 more unearned runs to score, for the Vikings to secure the 9-8 win. The offense was led by Mason Ruether with 3 hits, including 2 doubles. Jayden Robinson also collected 3 singles, along with Mason Cruzan and Landyn McGowen chipping in with 2 hits each. Alex Cruzan went 5 1/3 innings, striking out 8, walking 2, allowing 6 hits, and giving up 8 unearned runs. Mason Ruether pitched the final 2/3 of an inning, walking 2 and striking out 2, allowing 1 unearned run, while taking the loss. The Indians defense committed 11 errors for the game. In the nightcap the White Cloud offense started off hot, with a leadoff single by Mason Cruzan, followed by singles by Mason Ruether and Alex Cruzan to load the bases for Landyan McGowen who delivered in a big way with a long Grand Slam over the right field fence for a quick 4-0 lead. The Indians added another run in the 2nd inning with an RBI single by Alex Cruzan.
Tri-County added a single run in the 1st inning and added 3 more in the 3rd inning as White Cloud led 5-4 at the end of 3 innings. In the 4th inning, Mason Cruzan led off with a long double, Alex Cruzan reached base on an error, then Landyn McGowen drove a sharp line drive double into the left field corner, scoring 2 more runs for a White Cloud 7-4 lead. The Vikings put pressure on White Cloud in their half of the 4th inning by getting runners on 1st and 2nd base when Mason Ruether got the final out of the game to pick up a Save. Landyn McGowen started on the hill, throwing 3 2/3 innings, striking out 9, walking 6, allowing 4 hits, and 4 earned runs to pick up the win. The offense was led by Landyn McGowen with 2 hits, an RBI Double and a Grand Slam, along with the brother's Cruzan both collecting 2 knocks each. White Cloud's record now stands at 5-1, and returns to the diamond on Saturday to face Holton, in the Holton Invitational.
