Newaygo (1-0, 2-0) host Wellspring Academy Monday and Big Rapids on Friday Big Rapids 62 Fremont 60 The Pack took the Cardinals into overtime but the visitors from Big Rapids escaped with the narrow win Coach Bowen: “It was a back and forth close game, and we just came up a little short in overtime. Our effort was much better than in our first game and I thought both teams played extremely hard. Our guards did not handle their pressure very well and we just had too many untimely turnovers. Jordon McDonald fouled out early in overtime and I thought that really changed the momentum of the game. I'm really proud of the kids for the effort they played with and the fight that they showed. We will take this as a positive step in the right direction and learn from our mistakes. McDonald had a great game for us with 23 points and 3 steals.” Fremont (0-1, 1-1) is home next week facing Whitehall Tuesday and Central Montcalm on Friday.
