Holton 43 Newaygo 29 The Lions held close to the visiting Red Devils for 3 quarters but Holton put on the burners in the 4th and pulled away for the win. Coach Jordan: “Another game we really needed and this was a good team win where several girls all played a big role in the win. Newaygo played us tough and we only had a 2 point lead at half and up 4 after 3 quarters. We were able to hit some shots and go on a run in the 4th that busted it open, Layla Cannady hit 2 big 4th quarter 3's to really extend the lead. Very happy with the way we closed out the game with a 14-5 4th. We had really good scoring balance tonight and that isn't always the case. “The bench also played a nice role in tonight's win when we got into a little bit of foul trouble, so it was a win that every single girl played a part in , and those are the best type of wins. I also felt our defense was pretty solid overall, gave up a few 3's that we were trying to take away , but only gave up 9 fg's on the night and I'll take that any day of the week. “We are looking to build out this win and get back to 500 on the season this Thursday against Hesperia, where we will be playing for the “Battle of M-120 “ trophy.” Coach Thomasma: "Shot the ball better tonight but just did not rebound the ball well enough and had a bad start to the 4th quarter. Give credit to Holton. They hit a few shots to start the 4th and really made good things happen." Aubrey Goyings paced the Devil scoring with 11 points and Ryann Robins took 11 off the glass to go with her 9 points. Abbie Fowler dished out 5 dimes to go with her 4 steals and 8 points while Cannady finished with 8 and Courtney Boes 6. Naomi Schillman led the Lions with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Grace Painter chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds.
