Tennis The Grant girls tennis team won their Invitational on Saturday finishing with 41 points. The Tigers were the flight champions at the top 3 singles spots and #2 doubles. Olivia Keelean was the top player in the tournament winning all 3 matches and only lost 1 game on the entire day at #1 singles. Jada Zerlaut and Kirstyn Throop also went undefeated on the day at #2 and 3 singles. Seniors Brooklyn Presler and Jill Arends took the 1st place medals at #2 doubles Emma Hetler at #4 singles and the #1 doubles team of Kathryn Stong and Sydney Patin were flight finalists. Hastings and Coopersville tied for 2nd place with 31 points and Manistee was 4th. The Tigers returned to action on Monday with a 6-2 win over Ludington. Keelean, Zerlaut and Throop each notched wins in their singles matches, and doubles wins came from Arends and Presler (#2) doubles, Liberty Pleune and Kaitlin Pascoe ( #3) and Cecilia Ovalle and Elvira Cruz (#4) Baseball Fremont 2- 10 North Muskegon 0-1 Finally baseball weather sun was out Monday and so were the Packers. as the middle of the line up tonight combined for the 5 hits in the game. Austin Kukal and Trent Maka were both 1-2. Calvin Miller was a force on the mound for the Packers going 6 plus innings and striking out 8 to pick up his third win of the season. Tristian Campbell slammed the door in the 7th to pick up the save. Miller is off to a good start for the season with an ERA 0.83, and 42 strikeouts. In the nightcap Maka took the mound and went the distance yielding a single run and scsttering 6 hits while striking out 8. A 1-1 tie in the 6th quickly became history as 9 Packers crossed the plate before the inning was through including 3 of them on a homer by Miller. Maka was hot with the bat tonight finishing 3-4 with 2 doubles while Miller. Payton Mansfield, Zayne Stroven, and Carter Moon also made major offensive contributions.
