Area happenings this week
It’s Fair Week of course with a variety of events happening in Fremont throughout the next few days and we understand there are some doings in Grant on Saturday. But there are other goings on as we continue to rifle our way through summer with the swiftness of a striking panther so here’s a few. From Thursday through Saturday it’s Hess Lake Yard Sales II as the lake residents offer their second sale-athon of the summer where one can tour the lake while stopping to see what bargains await them. Saturday the S.F. Wessling Observatory is hosting another star party from 9-11:30pm with a shot at seeing some of the Perseid Meteor Shower (a.k.a. shooting stars) on tap. There are farm markets open this weekend and we are featuring a couple of their new arrivals in another article. And then of course there is music… Got a hankering for some classic country sound? Northern Trails welcomes in Mike Larsen Wednesday from 6-9pm. Thursday’s have brought some fine musical talent to the Riverstop Cafe and this week continues that string. If you’ve been involved in the music scene around here you are well aware of the musical chops possessed by Marquita Bernard. And if you’ve been fortunate enough to see Jessica Mondello join her to form the duo Brigid’s Fire you already likely have plans to be there Thursday from 6:30-9pm. Friday Croton American Legion will be bringing in Messin’ Around from 8-11pm and it’s Open Mike night at Flying Bear Books & Creperie from 6-9pm. On Saturday Old Iron Bar & Grill will become the post festival party place as Innuendo tosses out some well played cover tunes starting at 8pm. And the Driftwood where Innuendo played last weekend brings in a favorite when Stolen Horses takes to the most scenic stage in the region from 4-8pm on Saturday and 3-7pm on Sunday.
