Welcome Center Looking For Volunteer Ambassadors The Newaygo County Welcome Center, located 3.5 miles north of Newaygo on M37, is looking for volunteers to share their knowledge with visitors of all that Newaygo County offers and encourage them to stay and spend money to boost the local economy. “We were just opened for our first Saturday on Oct. 22 and so many people stopped looking for trails, places to eat, and... ...where to find great color in the trees,” said Wendy Sinicki, the Welcome Center’s Volunteer & Marketing Coordinator. “It was so fulfilling to see them excited to go hiking, find fresh cider and donuts, or see the beautiful trees blaze in the sunshine.”
The Welcome Center is looking for volunteer ambassadors willing to work for 3-4 hours once a month. Volunteers must attend a training before starting and will work in pairs at the Welcome Center. Trainings will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, or 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16. “We are looking for people who like to talk about what great natural resources and businesses we have. Volunteers can encourage tourists to stay longer in Newaygo County than just passing through. By spending more time, visitors may go shopping, stay overnight, buy gas and/or get a meal and in turn infusing the economy with additional revenues. If they know what the county has to offer, they may plan a longer stay or a return trip,” Sinicki added. Volunteers do not need to know everything about the county, all information and brochures are available to share with visitors. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Wendy Sinicki at [email protected] or 231-689-7344. Comments are closed.
