Weekend Suggestion Box: Slingers, Safety And Cupcakes In The Cloud Yeah we know the photo has nothing to do with what's going on this weekend but there seems to have been a lot of recent bear sightings in our parts and this one is a rather handsome fellow so..... We at N3 World Headquarters and Floral Sanctum fell in love with the mandolin when first hearing the introduction to Rod Stewart’s classic song Maggie May. It spurred an interest in this often underappreciated instrument that has... ...spanned more than four decades and encompassed a multitude of musical genres from bluegrass to classical. Saturday night the award-winning duo Brian Oberlin and Evan J. Marshall, the “Twin Mandolin Slingers,” will perform at the Dogwood Center at 7:30 p.m. in the Black Box. If you like mandolin music? Go. If you’re unfamiliar with the eclectic nature of the instrument? Go. If you like to have a good time and enjoy listening to live music? Go. It’s a great show in a great venue, so our advice? Go. During the day on Saturday grab the fam and head for Tamarac where the 5th annual Health and Safety Day will be taking place from 11am to 2pm. We’re talking face painting, fire trucks door prizes, a slew of activities , maybe even a little Zumba. And it’s all free. Health screenings, safety demonstrations and so much more will be happening at the Fremont site. The Community Health team of Spectrum Gerber has been doing an outstanding job of working to create a community culture that aspires to improve the overall well-being of our citizenry and we at N3 applaud their efforts. The Boomerang group in White Cloud is hosting a Cupcake Baking and a Cupcake Decorating contest as part of the Cupcake Festival being held Saturday from 11am-4pm. While we don’t have many details they have a facebook page Cupcake Festival 2017 - Mother's Day Weekend Saturday and from what we understand there’s to be a parade at 3pm and, hey, who doesn’t love a parade? And it’s Mother’s Day Sunday. Take Mom out to dinner at one of our fine local establishments, pick up some flowers beforehand from one of our local plant and flower people, take her to the movies or maybe the concert at the Dogwood, ply her MD card with gift certificates for landscaping, car washing or detailing, oil changes, etc. But most of all spend some quality time with her. Throughout the year. Comments are closed.
