What is it about summer in this peninsula paradise we call home? Man, you slog through a really lousy few months of winter only to see it hang on with an unappealing April followed by a miserable May. However, never fear because June is on deck and June is always...always… Well not always I guess. It was wet and windy and woefully under warm throughout] July, on the other hand, has been a Godsend. Even the recent humidity-driven scorchers, when weather folks got all cranked up on being able to pull out the old ‘heat index’ from their ever expanding meteorological vocabulary, were welcomed. Sure it was a tad toasty but hang on, remember not so long ago we were wondering whether or not it was ever going to stop raining and inch its way into the 60’s? And now there is this, the current stretch of the most appealing and engaging weather one can possibly imagine. Warm sunny days with just enough of a chill to make the morning a tad crisp. These are north country gems and worthy of a deep and abiding regard. So revel, fellow citizens, revel. Bluegrass band, the Black Box, a little adult beverage to help set the mood perhaps...sounds like a nearly perfect formula for some serious fun. If you’re in the mood for some of that summertime revelry we just spoke of, Mark Lavengood and his collection of well known purveyors of outstanding musicianship will deliver the goods. The club-like setting provided by the Black Box always reminds me of the opening days of the Intersection in Eastown (circa 1972) where local and regional artists made their name in its cozy confines.
