The Suggestion Box By N3 Informational Team Are you kidding me? Free Fishing Day Relay for Life, Run Forrest Run, high school baseball and softball tournament action? And the Hess Lake Yard Sales as we speak. And just when you think things can’t possibly get any better?..... ...Friday kicks off the weekend with National Doughnut Day.
Kids Free Fishing Day in White Cloud is an unbelievably cool event that will draw young folks from all over region in hopes of snagging a cash-yielding fish. 10 of those tagged trout (shameless self-promotion inserted here) will bear the name of Near North Now and the parents of the lucky anglers will receive a free subscription and….What?.... We already have free subscriptions?.... Ok never mind then. Kids will be casting their lines into the water at 8am so get there early to register and find the ‘hot spot’ for your child to troll for trout Relay for Life that annual 12 hour stroll to raise funds to fight cancer commences noon Saturday at Veteran’s Park where you will find a variety of activities coinciding with the event as well as the Two Hot Tamales truck serving up their fine vittles from 2-8pm. If you are a sports enthusiast there s nothing quite like high school tournament action and Newaygo High School is hosting the D3 Districts in softball and baseball with semi-final games commencing Saturday. In baseball White Cloud takes on Morley at 10, Newaygo faces Kent City at noon and the championship game is at 2pm. For softball the games are turned around as Newaygo faces Kent City at 10am and White Cloud goes against Morley at noon with the title game at 2pm Here’s hoping our two local teams match up in the finals. In other sports the state finals in track are being held at Comstock Park with several local athletes competing in the meet. Want to take a bit of a drive? GR has their annual Festival of the Arts weekend with NNN’s favorite stand-up comic and prolific performer Megan Wirts spinning her wit and wisdom at the Outer Fringe stage Friday evening at 7pm. When the N3WH staff lived in GR this was an annual must-go and while appearances have been rarer in recent years the event never disappoints Muskegon kicks of its ‘First Friday’s’ downtown with street performers from 6-8pm Friday (of course) along Western Avenue. Tonight the Cedar Creek Cloggers will be among the acts entertaining folks with their fancy footwork. Lots going on near and far folks so get off the couch and grab a little early summer fun because we are entering graduation party season when slivered ham and potato salad push their way to the top of the party food chain and parents exhausted from preparations engage in dozens of 30 second conversations while making sure the food table stays well stocked. Just saying…... Comments are closed.
