And the Christmas celebrations in Fremont, White Cloud Newaygo Croton and Grant have completed their successful endeavors toward fostering an amiable atmosphere of collective community Christmas spirit. And your shopping is nearly if not totally done. You find yourself perhaps looking for some evening distraction, a way to... ...get yourself out of the house for a bit since it looks to be the kind of upcoming months where one may spend a great deal of time indoors. We at N3 World Headquarters and Ever-growing Elf Estate have a few ideas for you. Lions and Tigers and Packers Oh My! There is nothing like the atmosphere of a high school basketball game. Every gym and every crowd has its own personality and when it’s a big rivalry game there’s electricity in the air that can be infectious. It is almost always high level entertainment and worthy of a look if only to support the student athletes who put it all on the line when they take to the court. This article is sponsored by: Newaygo Brewing Co. Click Ad Above For Upcoming Events. Friday we have three of our local teams playing in their home gyms. The Lions of Newaygo the Tigers of Grant and the Packers of Fremont girls and boys varsity squads will be battling on the hardwoods. All three play in the CSAA Gold Conference now that the Pack has joined the league and each has a conference tilt on tap with Chip Hills coming to Newaygo, Central Montcalm visiting Grant and Reed City bringing their Coyotes to Fremont. So, go. Pick one in your current home town or revisit the school you attended or just decide on a random game and make plans to attend. The hoop party begins at 6pm when the girls teams tip off and are followed by the boys. There’s generally hot dogs and popcorn as well as an array of other treats and your purchase supports the athletic boosters as your ticket supports the athletic programs. And speaking of programs you get one with the price of admission so you can decipher the name of that #23 who keeps canning shots from the perimeter. By the way, if you see an elderly tall guy sitting at one end of the gym with camera in hand and notepad at the side who takes an inordinate amount of time to get to his feet at halftime? That would be the senior member of our sports team. Flick Fun Are you a Star Wars aficionado? If so this is seriously old news to you but if you have more of a passing fancy with the genre Fremont Cinemas has Rogue One: A Star Wars Story playing at several times throughout the weekend. We mention this as part of the whole N3 ShopLocal gig because we want to keep having a movie theater in our area and unless we continue to support it by actually putting our fannies in their seats (really really comfortable seats if you get the loungers) we might find ourselves wishing it was still here. Eats If you’re off to a game or heading to the movies or even just sitting at home not wanting to even think about dinner after a long week take time to visit one of our local eateries this weekend. Whether grabbing a pre-game pizza at Newaygo Brewery, hitting Old Iron for some of their BBQ delights or capping off date night with dinner at Lakes 23 it’s a good time of year to let our local establishments know how we appreciate them and the best way to parade your preferences is through your patronage. Light Show The Trail of Terror folks are doing Trail of Lights Friday and Saturday out at their Holton digs. We don’t know a lot about it but if they put the same level of innovation and energy into it as they do their magnificently macabre Halloween event it should be a winner. For more info call 231-821-2234. There you go folks. It’s the final weekend before Christmas so put the finishing touches on whatever you need to do and get out there and have a bit of fun. Whatever you choose to do will beat the heck out of just looking out the window and regretting that October wish you made for a White Christmas. Comments are closed.
