The Suggestion Box- New Years’ Eve By N3 Fun Finders “Each age has deemed the new-born year The fittest time for festal cheer.” -Sir Walter Scott It’s New Year’s Weekend and the Eve itself, the absolute mother lode of premier party atmosphere and anticipation is to be smack dab in the middle of it on a Saturday, no less. There’s just something kind of mystical about New Year's Eve. It’s as if instead of being just another day there’s a chance, a slim opportunity in a very contained time frame, to morph into a new life. To become suddenly evolved based on what is pledged for the coming year. A transformational experience in a way. Nearly always temporary of course due to our endearing humanness, but... ...kind of empowering in a way if just for a short time.
It’s as if one has already lost the weight, gotten organized, gone back to school, started that business, improved their relationships, gotten in shape or whatever quest that would be undertaken with the dawning of a new trip around the sun. Along with this is generally an opportunity to enjoy this new found self actualization in the company of others. Whether at a get together of friends in someone’s home or out for dinner, drinks and dancing there’s a level of celebratory sentiment that reaches beyond other gatherings of this type. We at N3 World Headquarters and Existential Contemplation Hub have witnessed this phenomenon on many occasions over the years. We’ve been exposed to many who bask in the glow of their newly formed changes and in reality we’ve on occasion been guilty of engaging in such basking. And why not? I mean, it's New Year’s right? A time when we wipe the slate clean and forge into new territory. As to where to celebrate the end of 2016 and the coming of 2017? Well, N3 nosed around a bit and if your plans are still a bit undirected here’s a few suggestions. Lakes 23 in Fremont has been steadily gaining in popularity since their opening this year and drawing an ever expanding clientele to their scenic home at Water’s Edge golf course. They’re busting out a special menu and sprinkling in some top-level tunesmanship as Daniel James brings his One Man Acoustic Jam with covers and original material for your listening pleasure. Like the idea but not a night owl? There’s a seating for early birds from 5:30pm-8pm and another beginning at 8pm for those wishing to knock down some of their fabulous fare before ringing in the 17th year of the 21st century in style. Call them at 231-335-3330 to reserve a seat. Good times and good people are generally on the docket when one visits Northern Trails an enticing eatery on M-82 about halfway between Newaygo and Howard City. They are also unleashing a special menu for the evening (check out the Steak Alaska or Citrus Salmon) and will be featuring Dennis DJ adeptly handling the musical selections for the night. Shot and drink specials, party favors, and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight are all part of the fun to be had and the Trails crew always does their part to make your visit a pleasurable one. The Driftwood Bar and Grill is planning on a party and has invited the Lucky 13 band who will help rock in the New Year at their On Croton Pond location. The fun begins at 8pm and there will be food specials (kitchen open until midnight) drink specials and your midnight champagne toast is on the house. So get the vocal cords ready for a little Auld Lang Syne action friends and neighbors and despite a bit of socializing and interacting and general partying you might engage in on this most anticipatory of evenings make sure that when the ball falls and the champagne pops you’re near the one you love to start the coming 12 months with one of those magical meaningful New Year’s kisses.
