The Suggestion Box- Let The Jingle Begin By N3 Entertainment Bureau This is a tough one, kind readers. I mean there’s other things going on and all, and for pity’s sake it’s been a month or so since I hit the movies and some of my favorite local and just-beyond-local dining establishments have been equally neglected in the barrage of busyness that seems to engulf so many of us these days. I’m relatively certain a couple of local bars will be having some music and it looks to be a great weekend for hiking or fishing or fire sitting and all to be sure. But the event that not only bears mentioning but is being highlighted this week creates a bit of contradiction personally because... ...in my effort to promote transparency at all levels I must admit that if given the choice between attending a craft show and being dragged by a car over broken glass my inclination is to ask how far the dragging might be.
Thankfully, there are people who reside at N3 World Headquarters and Decoration Devotion Center who embrace such events. Not all, of course, since the person in question possesses a rather discerning eye for what she likes and can be significantly selective about which of these venues have earned attention and attendance. And Saturday one such of these events takes place as the Jingle Mingle, the consummate arts and crafts extravaganza of this region will be taking hold of the Fremont Middle School from 9am-3pm. I have attended many of these annual shows primarily because my LSC enjoys them and also because, quite frankly, I enjoy her, so it kind of works out ok. It’s just that I’m generally ready to depart sooner than her. By hours most times. Just not much of a browser I guess. So it is infinitely better for me to stay home and focus on becoming a better person so LSC can take her time and not have to occasionally encounter (like every 3-4 minutes) the rather impatient looking man trying unsuccessfully to appear to be having fun. If you are one who enjoys seeing the creativity and craftsmanship these vendors have put into their handiwork and are interested in getting a jump on gifts as well as procuring some home décor this is the event for you. It is well organized well attended and always produces a few surprises when it comes to products presented. If not? The original 1935 Bride of Frankenstein film is on TV starting a little past 9am. About the time LSC figures to be departing I would guess. Also: It’s week two of LionHeart’s Beauty and the Beast with a Friday show and two shows Saturday at 2pm and 7:30pm at the Grant Fine Arts Center. You must check out N3’s Megan Wirts’ review at http://www.nearnorthnow.com/features-and-fun/theater-review-beauty-the-beast-a-must-see Support Community Theater. It is a beacon of light to its patrons and an always intriguing enclave of local talent that deserves our attention. Sunday make sure you stop at the Newaygo Fire Department between 1-3pm for the Bird Family Silent Basket Auction. They have a facebook page that can provide more details on how to help by putting a bid on a basket. This is a really, really good cause that has been truly embraced by this wonderfully generous community. Go to the page. See how you can help. And that, my friends, is your Near North Weekend Suggestion Box. Comments are closed.
