Newaygo's annual Christmas Walk, where the streets downtown are closed to traffic other than the horses and carriages that pull people down the middle of the road to see the full view, was held on Friday, December 5. Businesses stay open late, Newaygo Jazz band performs on stage, the Christmas tree that elementary students decorate with handmade ornaments gets lit, vendors sell (or give away) hot chocolate, donuts, popcorn and an array of other treats, and people of all ages are able to walk and enjoy the town together to somewhat unofficially kick off the Christmas season.
