​Spring and summer provides us with  the opportunity to enjoy all of the things we  ​

​love about living in Newaygo County. The beauty of seeing the best sunset ever; the sound of loons echoing over the lake; feeling your kayak glide along with the river current; or smelling fresh cut hay.  And, in Newaygo County we are fortunate for not only the natural beauty but also the richness of cultural

opportunities.  The combination provides us with a bit of rural sophistication unique to many areas in Michigan.

While we enjoy our woods, wetlands, waterways and our ability to kayak, hike, fish, hunt and bike, we also enjoy outdoor community festivals, concerts, theater, arts and craft festivals, classes, workshops and exhibits.  Both connections, to nature and to culture, can provoke similar emotions: inspiring,
energizing, motivating, empowering.  

Both touch our lives for the better.
The value of both nature and culture goes beyond the beauty and power to move individuals; they contribute to advancing tourism and nurturing the creativity of our region.  We are fortunate to have this great combination.

The facilities that house many of the cultural events are located throughout the county.    Grant Fine Arts Center, Stage Door Theater, NCCA-Artsplace, Dogwood Center, Newaygo County Museum 
and Heritage Center, and Terry Wantz Historical Center each offer their own flavor of activities for their patrons to enjoy.  

In addition the six Newaygo County libraries are continually providing stimulating book discussions, presentations by authors as well as children’s programming.  Farmers Markets in Newaygo and Fremont are popular spots to check out locally grown foods while you are downtown browsing shops and quaint stores.  Concerts in the parks are always enjoyable fun and feature local and regional talent.  Festivals, large and small, offer fun to be had by all.
