Free Camping Weekend For Vets, Current Military

Scenic White Cloud Park will be the site during the first weekend in May

Newaygo County is proud of our veterans as well as the current members of our military and grateful for their service.
We also take pride in our many opportunities for outdoor fun including the array of fine campgrounds that dot the county.

In a collaborative enterprise involving the Newaygo County Parks & Recreation and the Newaygo County Department of Veterans Affairs, current and former US Military members are being offered a free camping weekend at the White Cloud County Park the first weekend in May (May 3-5 2019).
Free campsites are available to all Active Duty US Military, Reserve US Military, Retired US Military, and US Military Veterans.

This is a small way of expressing  gratitude to those who have served as well as those who are currently serving. The White Cloud site includes many trails including a loop access to the North Country Scenic Trail and borders the White River where many campers can enjoy fishing, kayaking and canoeing.

Interested individuals must contact the Newaygo County Department of Veterans Affairs at (231) 689-7218 to register and then Parks Staff will contact them to reserve their free campsite. The Department of Veterans Affairs is open Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm, with the exception of holidays.
