“I'm not crazy about reality, but it's still the only place to get a decent meal.”- Groucho Marx Spend “An Evening with Groucho” at the Dogwood Center on Saturday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m.! Award-winning actor, director and playwright Frank Ferrante recreates his PBS, New York, and London acclaimed portrayal of legendary comedian Groucho Marx in this fast paced 90 minutes of hilarity. The two-act, fast paced comedy consists of the best Groucho one-liners, anecdotes and songs including “Hooray for Captain Spaulding”, and “Lydia, the Tattooed Lady”. NPR recently picked Frank Ferrante’s award-winning portrayal of American comedy legend Groucho Marx as one of the country’s top five solo shows. For more than twenty years and 2,500 performances Ferrante has traveled the world entertaining audiences of all ages. His fast-pace show highlights classic Marx Brothers routines, songs, stories, dances and hilarious audience interaction. Accompanied by his onstage pianist, Ferrante portrays the young Groucho of stage and film and reacquaints the audience with the likes of brothers Harpo, Chico, Zeppo, and Gummo, Charlie Chaplin, W.C. Fields, and Greta Garbo. Enjoy the rapid fire and quick witted style of Groucho Marx live on the Dogwood Center stage! The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. on the main stage.
