Readers Write: A Call to Our Youth to Vote!

Will you be 18 by August 7? Are you registered to vote?
The future is yours! Don’t leave it up to us older generations to decide for you! We’ve already made a ton of mistakes that you will have to pay for.
Our government and its systems can be very complicated. If you want to have a voice but don’t know where to start, here are some suggestions:

Register to vote - then vote! Register by July 9 to vote in the primary on August 7. Go to your town, township or county clerk’s office.
Get help from youth driven resources such as Rockthevote.org
Speak with your local, regional and state representatives to learn what they are doing for you.
Create your own Newaygo County Youth in Action group to work together on learning about and acting on issues important to you.
Contact your local political parties to find out which ones align most with your issues and interests. Newaygo County has the Newaygo County Democratic Party and the Republican Party of Newaygo County. There are also local Progressive, Indivisible, Libertarian and other parties as well that can be found online and on Facebook.
