Letter To The Editor: Millage Needs To Pass Dear Readers of Near North Now, I am writing to encourage my fellow residents and homeowners within the Grant Public School District to vote in favor of the additional millage for operating funds needed to continue providing attractively-kept facility, qualified staff members and successful programming at the Grant Area District Library. I am currently a 2nd grade teacher employed by... ...the Grant Public Schools and know from experience and exposure to families and the children in our school district that we need this millage to pass. We need to express pride in our current facilities and staff. We must not allow our beautiful library to fall into disrepair or end up being run by volunteer staff at limited hours because we won’t be able to attract qualified paid staff members. These qualified staff members thrive on providing the best of books, movies, free internet access, a genealogy room, book studies for adults, summer reading program for children K-12, and on and on the list goes.
If, for any reason, you find yourself against this issue, I would challenge you to visit the Grant Area District Library. If, after visiting this facility, you still choose to vote against it, then I will, sadly, respect your decision. For any readers who join me in support of the millage request for the Grant Area District Library, please be sure to vote on election-day. A Proud Citizen, Scott Jensen – Grant, MI Comments are closed.
