Letter To The Editor: Libraries Vital Dear Editor, On August 2nd, all voters living within the boundaries of the Grant Area District Library are faced with an extremely important decision. You vote gets to decide the future of our local library. Our library in Grant has functioned with the same millage since moving into its new building in 2004. We all know that the cost of everything has risen greatly in the last 12 years, but the library staff has had to “make do”, going without some services and materials or hoping for a generous donor.
Libraries are vital to our communities. As Andrew Carnegie stated, “A library outranks any other one thing a community can do to benefit its people.” Libraries allow adults and children to discover whole new worlds. Help our library continue to be a vital part of our community. Flip that ballot over (it’s a long one!) and vote YES for the library millage. “Whatever the cost of our libraries, the price is cheap compared to that of an ignorant nation.” Walter Cronkite Sincerely, Diane Horrisberger - Grant, MI Comments are closed.
