To the Editor: As educators retired from the Grant Public Schools, we were delighted to find that Rob Schuitema has put his name in consideration for the Grant School Board. Most of our community will recognize the name "Schuitema" as a family long connected with education here. However, it is not just his family connections that make Rob eminently qualified to guide instruction for our students. Previous to becoming the Director of Education at the Grand Rapids Public Museum, Rob was Youth and Cultural Enrichment Director for NCCS/ True North. A graduate of Grant Public Schools himself, Rob was active in both athletics and the Arts. As a parent of students presently attending our schools, Rob also understands the challenges facing the entire community as we strive to do the best for our children. His experience is unique as a child and brother of educators, as an adult long engaged in the education and supplementation of youth learning and as an involved parent. We encourage our community to support Rob Schuitema's bid for a position on the Grant Public School Board. With his background, enthusiasm, and level-headed reasoning, Grant could not do better for our children, our staff and our district. Most sincerely, Mark and Valerie Sweers
