To the Editor: I’m writing in enthusiastic support of Rob Schuitema for one of the open positions on the Grant Public Schools Board. I first met Rob roughly fifteen years ago when we worked together at TrueNorth Community Services. Part of the nature of the beast working at a nonprofit is doing more with less. I found Rob to be a creative thinker and problem solver. I also found him to be level-headed and even-tempered. All skills I’m sure he has put to good use in his current job as Director of Public Programs at the Grand Rapids Public Museum, and that will be equally important as a School Board Member. Rob is a committed and involved family man whose children attend Grant Public Schools. He is intelligent and open-minded and would bring a welcome, fresh take on the myriad of issues public schools face in today’s world. He has friends and family who work in the GPS District and as such, has unique insights into the complex goings-on there. My wife is 27 year veteran teacher in Grant who also, and equally enthusiastically, supports Rob’s bid for a Board seat. Sincerely, W. Christian Kuebler
