SHGM To Hold Helping Event Saturday, Dec. 10th Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial will host a special event to help people enroll for health insurance on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. People who want to select a health plan that meets their needs can stop by Gerber Memorial’s main lobby anytime during the four-hour event to ask questions, get more information andeven enroll in a plan through Healthcare.gov’s website to find a plan through the Marketplace. “Our certified financial counselors look forward to helping people in our community get the right plan at the right price that meets their needs, and that’s why we encourage everyone to stop by our event,” said Rhonda Hedlund, Gerber Memorial’s supervisor of patient access services. “In recent years.... ...we have helped many individuals and families find the right kind of health insurance and save money on their premiums through tax credits. Our goal is to help as many people get answers and get covered during our special event.”
The deadline to sign up for health coverage is Dec. 15 to receive coverage by Jan. 1, 2017. During the previous enrollment period, Gerber Memorial helped sign up 64 families for health coverage for the 2016 year. Qualifying applicants could also be eligible for substantial tax credits that may significantly reduce the cost of their monthly premiums. The event will also include snacks, refreshments and free gifts for attendees. Hedlund said people can still enroll anytime outside of the Dec. 10 event but prior to Dec. 15, for coverage to begin at the start of 2017.
