With two of our area’s marching bands aiming to impress the judges at Ford Field Saturday and a slew of runners from our parts set to take their mark at Michigan International Speedway the same day our area looks to be well represented in these two state finals. Marching Band The Grant and Newaygo Marching Bands have put together a pair of compelling performances that have brought them much success this season and an invitation to the season finale soiree in Detroit. Katie Bayne in Newaygo and Ryan Broome her counterpart in Grant are part of a treasure trove of talented Band Directors in our area who have built strong programs with committed members. We wish them well. Cross Country Division 4 Ella Bowman, Hannah Brown, Lyndsey Chaffee Kayla Pasch Elizabeth Rubio Naomi Thompson and Haley Foster. These are the runners who will carry the banner for White Cloud Girls Team who ran to a first place finish at Regionals. The Boys Team will also be in Brooklyn. Cameron Karnes, Aramis LeClair, Matthew Reynolds, Adrian Rodriguez,Jared Elder, Tomas Feldpausch and Reginald Richmond hope to post some good numbers in this runner’s showcase Division 3 Grant’s Boys team will be running 3 freshmen with Eli Bradley, Carter Cole and Aaron Zimmer making it to state in their first varsity year. They will be joined by Colton Covington, Spencer Cole, and Connor Vanderwilt and David Jaimes, each a junior. Newaygo will have two runners representing the Lions as junior Ryan Brummel and senior Ellie Nausadis prepare to make their final runs of the season. Division 2 Fremont is also packed with youth as four freshman will toe their marks Saturday morning. Seniors Ben Schmidt and James Pekel lead a Packer squad with first year Varsity runners Colton Best, Ben Paige, Nathan Walker and Joshua Zerfas and t sophomore Carter Moon. Packer Emma Metz, also a sophomore, will be running for individual honors in the Girls competition after her strong finish at Regionals. Comments are closed.
