![]() Let There Be Books! Bay Leaf Buyer To Reopen Store By Ken DeLaat Bay Leaf Books will indeed be departing Newaygo, but thanks to John Reeves and his wife Marsha there will still be a bookstore gracing the shopper-friendly downtown landscape. The Reeves will be the new owners of the eclectic emporium of reading treasures that has drawn loyal customers from across the region, customers who will be breathing a most welcome sigh of relief at the news. “I’ve done a lot of volunteer work since we moved up here from Ann Arbor but was looking for something more,” said Reeves. “When I heard about the bookstore I thought ‘You know I could probably do that.'” That thought pattern led to a conversation with... ...Bay Leaf owner Gabe Konrad and eventually to an agreement to purchase the store, according to Reeves.
“I feel relieved that there will continue to be a bookstore here,” said Konrad who brought the store to Newaygo from Sand Lake. “It’s the only bookstore in the county.” “I hope the community really comes out and shows a lot of support for the the Reeves." John and Marsha will begin preparing for their opening after taking possession next week and plans are to open in about four weeks after they assume ownership. While a few names are under consideration the Reeves have yet to officially land on one, N3 plans a follow-up visit sometime before their opening and as news reaches us we will dutifully report on the store’s new moniker. Bay Leaf will remain open through this Saturday January 7th at 6pm. Comments are closed.
