Newaygo County Central Dispatch issued a BOL (Be On the Lookout) for a vehicle being driven by a man who was possibly suicidal.
Deputies located the vehicle and the man on M-37 near 11 Mile Rd in Merrill Township. The deputies made contact with the man and learned...
...there was a handgun inside the car near the man’s feet. Deputies removed the man from the vehicle and took him into custody.
The man whose name has not been released is being held in the Newaygo County Jail awaiting arraignment.
“This type of incident is a good illustration of the real dangers law enforcement officers not only in Newaygo County but throughout the country face every day,” said Undersheriff Wes Bierling. “Our department feels very fortunate that no one was seriously injured.”
