White Cloud, April 15, 2021- Newaygo County Prosecuting Attorney, Worth Stay, announced that a juvenile petition has been issued for a 16 year-old juvenile stemming from an investigation into an explosion at Newaygo High School on March 8, 2021 and subsequent search warrant of a residence. The juvenile is charged with a violation of MCL 750.211a(2)(a) - Manufacture/Possession of a Molotov cocktail or a similar device. Additionally, the juvenile is charged with violating MCL 750.237a(4) - Possession of a weapon in a weapon-free school zone. A preliminary hearing was held on April 14, 2021 and future court dates will be set by the Family Division of the 27th Circuit Court. A juvenile is presumed innocent until proven otherwise beyond a reasonable doubt. I'm so sorry to hear that this current run of disturbing events has come to Newaygo County. Everyday I read about events that seem to be triggered by anger against someone or somethin or nothing. I sure hope things settle down soon across our country.
