The White Cloud Rotary is hosting one of the coolest events around at the Grant Fine Arts Center on Monday March 27th beginning at 7pm. Their annual musical extravaganza known as “A Night of Jazz” puts a spotlight on the talent that thrives under the direction of our local band programs. The staff of N3 have long been fans of this premiere entertainment event that produces an evening of lively tunes performed by area high school jazz groups.
The music is splendid, the setting divine and the enigmatic emceeing expertise of former radio personality and now Voice of the Indians in the football booth Mr. Jim Jones is alone well worth the price of admission...
..a mere 10 bucks for adults and just a fin ($5) if you’re 18 or under. Contact any White Cloud Rotary member or the band programs to purchase tickets.
Independent Bank believes in giving back as evidenced by their Investing in Communities initiative. Nominated by members of the communities they serve, nonprofit organizations are tossed into a competition for online votes and the top four vote-getters receive $5000. In this, the first of four phases in this year’s program, the focus is on Feeding Our Communities, thus the organizations nominated are those that provide services aimed at helping those in need to access food.
Newaygo County has some skin in the game here folks. Three organizations in our area are in the running but currently trailing the pack so they are going to need your votes.
You can vote once a day and here’s the link: http://hubs.ly/H06DsXv0
Our candidates? The Newaygo County Commission on Aging, White Cloud United Methodist Church Food Pantry and Love INC.
“The Newaygo and White Cloud offices are working hard to spread the word and encourage community numbers to vote daily.,” said Rhonda Grabill Buter AVP Bank Manager of the Newaygo team. “ Being able to make a difference in our communities is something that Independent Bank prides itself on.”
“We would love to be able to award $5,000 to one of these hard working non-profits in Newaygo County.”
Get out the vote folks, these are worthy causes. You can also check the ‘standings’ at the link given above to see how our locals are doing.
Voting lasts until 5pm March 29.
One of the absolutely ultra-fabulous happenings in these parts or anywhere else in the universe is the Russell Gilbert Kids Free Fishing Day in White Cloud held each June. If you have ever witnessed the aura of sheer anticipation that fills the Mill Pond area, the casting of the poles at the allotted time and the excitement of successful anglers who reel one in you already know the magic that fills the air that day.
This is from Diane Patrick one of the event organizers and one of the daughters of the event’s namesake:
We need your support. Our fund-raising auction will be held April 9th at the White Cloud Eagles Club at 1pm. We need your unwanted items to sell so please sort through your things and donate. If you’re a business maybe you can donate what you sell and advertise your business all at once.
If you’re crafty make something, if you cut wood donate a truck load, if you clean houses donate a cleaning certificate, there are many ways to help. If you have items call 689-1958 and ask for Annette or Rich or 425-6715 and ask for Diane. We're waiting to hear from you! If you positively don't have anything you can help by attending the auction, donating cash or tagging a fish.
We at N3 World Headquarters and Hoarding Haven plan on going through a plethora of items that have rested comfortably in the office area for years to see what might be suitable for donating.
Except for the mannequin.
