![]() Community Foundation Offers Intro to Nonprofit Board Service Seminar Fremont Area Community Foundation and the Johnson Center for Philanthropy are partnering to offer free Introduction to Nonprofit Board Service seminars for those interested in finding a meaningful way to make a difference in their community. The seminars, which will be repeated on three dates and locations, are open to anyone looking for a new way to get involved in their community. Each seminar will explain what serving on a board or committee for a local nonprofit, church, township, service club, or other organization is all about. They will cover the basics of board service, roles and responsibilities of board members, nonprofit financial management, and more. The first seminar will be held Thursday, March 2 at the Community Foundation (4424 W 48th Street, Fremont). It will be repeated... ...on Tuesday, March 14 in White Cloud at the Newaygo County Commission on Aging and on Thursday, March 23 at the Grant Area District Library. The time for each is 6:30-8 p.m.
Although no commitment is required to participate in the introduction seminars, there will be an opportunity in May to attend a “nonprofit speed dating” event where newly trained potential board members can connect with local organizations in need of their skills and leadership. “Our goal is to attract and train a broader range of people in Newaygo County to serve on the boards of local organizations,” said Mark Petz, Community Foundation special projects coordinator. “Not only do local nonprofits need your talents, leadership, and passion, but board service is also a great opportunity for personal growth and learning.” For more details and to register, visit facommunityfoundation.org/events or call the Community Foundation at 231.924.5350. These seminars are part of the 2017 Leadership Series, presented by the Community Foundation in partnership with the Fremont Area and River Country chambers of commerce. Comments are closed.
