Have you gotten a tad tired of the traffic delays associated with the bridge construction in Newaygo? Do you make an effort to avoid it during morning and late afternoon peak times? Have you become well acquainted with the back way up Whiskey Hill, down River Road with a turn on Felch? Listen, you folks have been great. Patient and polite for the most part despite a couple of glitches that pushed back completion time. I’m certain a few travelers through our area were caught unawares might have been a bit testy but the citizenry has adjusted well and kept their good manners mostly intact. So here’s the good news. N3 contacted MDOT for a bit of an update and was told: “Things are starting to wrap up. Cleanup and some finishing touch items are taking place. Some of the remaining work, like pavement markings, is temperature and moisture sensitive so the schedule is a bit fluid. We expect to be open to traffic and out of there by the end of the week.” Yup, this week. Of course that caveat about temperature and moisture could come into play since our temperatures have plummeted and moisture seems to be the new normal but the end is in sight! So again, give yourselves a bit of a pat on the back for taking this bit of inconvenience in stride. And revel in the fact that soon, very soon, we get all of our bridge back.

Just curious: what were they doing all this time? They just redid the bridge a couple years ago.
