![]() Art In Action Lives Up To Its Billing By Marianne Boerigter Creativity was the name of the game at NCCA-Artsplace “Art in Action” last Saturday in Fremont! Painting, creating, meeting professional artists, enjoying percussion music, performance art and perfect weather….all combined for a great event! The event’s special guest was “Word Girl”, from the PBS children’s television program, who greeted kids as they worked on their art projects and even played the drums with percussionist Kevin Dupree of Grand Haven. WGVU Public Media personnel were on hand during the event with freebies and info on PBS educational shows. Artists Jane Stroschin, Deb Emerick and Renae Wallace helped kids with their creations during the day as well as providing walking tours of Fremont Public Art installations with Mayor Jim Rynberg and Bonnie Erber. Mat Emerick performed for the crowd doing mime, performance art, juggling and balancing feats. The giggly, smiley group especially liked Mat’s storytelling of the classic “Casey at Bat”. NCCA-Artsplace is located in downtown Fremont at 13 E. Main, 231.924.4022. For more information about programs and classes for kids this summer, go to www.ncca-artsplace.org. Comments are closed.
