The Food Truck Foodies Have Spoken: Mata Taco!
N3 Readers opine on portable provisions In the latest of our highly subjective, unscientific and randomly gathered surveys we asked readers what their favorite meals on wheels offering might be. The result? No Contest. Mata Taco drew in a solid 50% of the vote to take the top spot. We also asked participants why they made their selection. Mata Taco The Mata family is an amazing family. They mean so much to our community and the food is to die for. Delicious food Fresh and nothing like it around here They have amazing food and the couple who runs it are so sweet and really take the time to interact with their customers. Cuz it’s DELICIOUS, duh! -and always service with a smile!! Because Tacos....and the owners are amazing!!!! It’s amazing. The food and service are both phenomenal. Hello!! The great food! The prices are great! Oh and the couple are so nice. Second Place ended in a tie between relative newcomer Hola Arepa and the widely popular Sweet Racks & Smokin Butts. Sweet Racks & Smokin Butts 110% hands down the best BBQ in Michigan PERIOD. The loaded Mac, loaded mashed potatoes, and wings hit the spot every time! Their food is AMAZING and I love that we can buy their meat by the pound! Delish brisket Hola Arepa Best street food I've ever tasted Desgranado sooo good and so are the arepas It’s not your normal everyday food but it is amazing! Honorable Mentions 2 Hot Tamales I love their tamales and they are very nice people! 2 Bones Great meats, fair prices, friendly staff El Caribe Their flavor is unmatched and I love the variety they offer. Their lines are always long but worth the wait. Porknstein Best pulled pork Pizza Cone Trolley Uniquely delicious cones stuffed with yummy pizza ingredients Big Reds The best pulled pork around. Absolutely love the pig Mac daddy bowl We also asked folks how far they would travel and while many mentioned distances from 10 miles to up to an hour we were most impressed by this one for SR&SB: “Anywhere in the lower peninsula.” And from a Mata Taco fan: “Thousands of miles if that meant getting amazing tacos...Wherever they are, I'll go!” We will endeavor to let you know the where and when of the local food truck scene as we receive the info from the vendors. And look for our next survey on your Newaygo County faves.
