When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, quitting smoking tops the list. Turn your resolution into a plan with help from Spectrum Health’s Tobacco and Nicotine Treatment program. Free quit smoking, vaping, or chewing classes, as well as one on one appointments are available. There are a variety of ways to participate: in person, online, or via phone. Not only is nicotine highly addictive, but it also becomes engrained into many daily routines and can have social connections as well. This is often called the triple edged sword of addiction. Classes and appointments are designed to help you consider each of these components and develop a plan to address them. • Biological: We will discuss the 7 FDA approved cessation medications and Nicotine Replacement Therapy to help you decide what might be the right fit for you. • Psychological: We will look at how tobacco and nicotine products fit into your routines and daily life. Do you have a cigarette with your morning coffee? In the car? After a meal? Finding other activities to do instead and changing behaviors is an important part of the quit process. • Social: Being around others who use tobacco products can be especially challenging when you’re trying to quit. We can help you plan for this, too! For more information call 231.924.7589 or email caitlin.mitchell [email protected]
