If you are interested in becoming a homeowner, but have no idea where to start or are overwhelmed by all the steps involved, TrueNorth’s Center for Nonprofit Housing (CNH) is here to help. As part of TrueNorth’s family of programs and services, CNH offers free, confidential, and expert advice, counseling and education on a number of financial and home buying topics. One of their long-standing core services is assisting low to moderate income local residents become homeowners, and the first step ... ...for those interested is their Intro to Home Buying class offered free of charge..
In these fun and interactive classes, you will gain knowledge on a host of topics including budgeting, the mortgage process, how to avoid predatory lending, shopping for the right home, and much more. In addition to CNH’s own highly trained and certified staff, you will learn from guest presenters who are industry professionals and will offer you the most up-to-date information on a wide range of topics. You will also learn about the many home loan options available to you and possible down payment assistance programs, and upon completion of the course, you will receive a certificate that satisfies the educational requirements for many of these. Upon class completion, you can register for a free follow-up individual coaching session where you will get a free copy a tri-merged credit report – up to a $40 value! Please note that classes are limited to 20 people, so be sure to sign up early. The next scheduled two part class takes place on Wednesday, March 15 and Wednesday, March 22, from 5:30 – 8:30 PM at the TrueNorth service center located at 6308 S. Warner Ave (M-82), just south of Fremont. You must attend both to complete the course. A one day course option will be offered on Saturday, April 8, from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
