Indivisible Newaygo County will host a “No Kings” rally on Saturday, October 18 from 12pm – 1:30pm. It will be held at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Fremont, 119 W Main Street, 49412. “No Kings” is a national non-violent day of action that began in June with over 200 supporting partners including Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Interfaith Alliance, American Federation of Teachers, American Postal Workers Union, and others. “The ‘No Kings’ rally is our chance to stand up and be heard,” stated Elizabeth Pitzer of Indivisible Newaygo County. “Last week military leaders were told by the Commander in Chief that they are to turn on US citizens. ‘No Kings’ is in defense of our democracy and our way of life. I look forward to seeing my friends and neighbors at this important event.” Indivisible Newaygo County (INC) merges public rallies with community service, having collected donations of food and clothing for organizations such as True North, Center of Hope and Healing, and Legal Migrant Aid at past events. “This time we are collecting monetary donations for the ACLU of Michigan,” states Sally Wagoner of INC. “Our local ACLU will defend the legal rights of all people according to our constitution and laws, no matter what their background, faith or political affiliation might be.” ”Just this month the ACLU of Michigan filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of the husband of a US citizen and their three children,” added Sally. “This man has leukemia. He was brought to the US as a child by his parents to find a better life for their family, and he has been working, paying taxes and raising a family his adult life. The Michigan ACLU got involved when ICE detained him, keeping him from lifesaving cancer treatments. This is not what American people want – we have compassion and heart for people in need.” A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. All participants are to seek the de-escalation of any potential confrontation with those who disagree, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to the October 18 rally. Monetary donations for Michigan ACLU can be brought to the rally, or can be donated by phone via a QR code that will be available at the rally, or a link to the Michigan ACLU donation site. For those who cannot make the rally, donations to Michigan ACLU can be made anytime via their website: www.aclumich.org. Indivisible Newaygo County (INC) is a local chapter whose mission is "mobilizing our community to build a more just and prosperous Newaygo County for all through non-violent action." INC meets twice each month at various locations around the county which can be found posted on their Facebook Events page. Enews can be signed up for by emailing: [email protected].

I guess these people missed the original “No Kings” day we celebrate every 4th of July. Pretending President Trump holds himself out as a king is really quite silly. But silly (and violence) is what we have come to expect from the left

That's great they don't want to use violence. However, it would appear that once again these "peaceful protester" are not so peaceful. Recently at a no kings rally a conservative journalist was assaulted by a group from the no kings mob (I could list many other instances of violence). Many of those marching at these rallies are antifa members who are notoriously violent. We were told BLM was a peaceful movement too, while its members burned down business and murdered people. Forgive me if I do not buy they are peaceful. The left is inherently violent and would rather scream at you and punch you then have a civil conversation (think Charlie Kirk). Implying Trump is a king is equally ridiculous. Courts have ruled both for and against Trump. If her were a king this would never happen. The claim made by the left that "democracy is dying" is absurd. I would appreciate an few concrete examples how it is dying? The left does not like Trump and so it repeats endlessly how democracy is dying. Did the left think it was dying when Biden ignored several supreme court rulings (one example student loans)? Did the left complain and scream when the left shut down our churches and schools and allowed big box stores, liquor stores and abortion clinics to remain open. Did the left think democracy was dying when Gov Walz called out the National Guard to enforce curfews in Minnesota? Did the left protest when democratic governors unilaterally changed voting rules without state legislators changing the laws? Who ordered the the FBI to partner with social media to censure accurate news regarding Hunter Biden laptop during thre 2020 election? Who ordered an FBI swat team to invade President Trump's home regarding documents he kept there and had a right to keep there? Who opted not to go after Biden for keeping classified documents in his garage when he had not right to them? Who tried to keep Trump of the ballot in several states? Who tried to impeach Trump when he was out of office and private citizen? Who tried to assassinate Trump on 2 occasions? Who destroyed the southern border by refusing to enforce laws and giving out billions to illegals in the form of free housing, transportation, food, medical care? Who force American citizens to get covid tests if returning to the US from abroad but allowed millions of illegals in to the country without testing a single one? Who allowed BLM protests but made sure no one could go to a hospital to visit a relative or attend a funeral of a parent? The list goes on and on. None of these things has Trump done, this all from the left and they had no concern about democracy then. The no kings farce by the left is ridiculous.

Let’s be clear: violence isn’t who we are, it’s what we’re fighting against.

I have always believed in the Constitution, the rule of law and the system of checks and balances. Never in my lifetime have I seen power from the other branches and our institutions ( which I greatly revere) go almost entirely to the Executive branch. This has me greatly concerned. That concern will lead me to peacefully protest, as I and many other Newaygo County citizens did at the previous No Kings rally. We have a proven record of peaceful demonstrations, and a legal right to assemble.

I’ve excited to be participating in this protest – and I’m extremely proud of the past activism we’ve done as part of Indivisible Newaygo County. We’ve raised thousands of dollars for Migrant Legal Aid, distributed food and seeds to hungry families in our community, gathered donations for local veterans, and collected items for battered women and exploited children. On this day, we’ll be raising money for the ACLU.

In reference to the previous post referring to the "lefts violence " against a conservative journalist being assaulted "by a group from the No Kings mob", may I say this. That incident purportedly seems to pale next to the incited actions taken by , truly a "mob" on January 6th, 2021. Not a left wing group, correct me if Im wrong. Let us not forget that those convicted of horrible assault on our institutions (congress persons, law enforcement officers, and federal property) were then pardoned, absolved of responsibility for committing arguably the worst act of insurrection since the Civil War.
